Halloween in Málaga 2026: original things to do with your hire car

October in Málaga is no ordinary month. The intense heat fades, the beaches regain their calm and, little by little, the city starts to fill up with pumpkins, cobwebs and shop windows dressed up in mystery. Halloween is no longer an imported celebration: it has become part of Málaga’s calendar, and the province knows how to give it a distinctive, Mediterranean and surprising twist.
This year it also falls on Saturday 31 October, with Sunday 1 November being a public holiday for All Saints’ Day: a long night, no early start the next morning and plenty of room to improvise. And with a hire car collected in Málaga or Fuengirola from Miami Car Hire, all that variety becomes freedom: you can link several plans together in a single weekend, escape to a village or decide on the spot where you want the night to end.
We have gathered the plans already announced for Halloween 2026 in the city and across the province, in date order. Prices and times are those published as of 12 October; it is worth checking them on each organiser’s website before you go.
Before Halloween: the weekend of 23–25 October
The celebrations start a few days early. Laberintus Scream Park turns the hedge maze in Humilladero, in the Antequera area, into a night-time horror park with two haunted houses (La Feria and La Cosecha) and an extreme experience for over-18s only (El Granero). It opens on Friday 23 and Saturday 24 (doors at 18:30, sessions from 19:30 to 00:00) and Sunday 25 (doors at 17:30, sessions from 18:30 to 23:00). Expected prices are €19.90 (both haunted houses) and €29.90 (full experience), still awaiting final confirmation. It is ideal by car: there is free parking and the drive from Málaga takes about an hour. Make the most of the trip by stopping at the Dolmen of Menga in Antequera along the way.
If you are travelling with children, the La Concepción Historical-Botanical Garden is holding a family treasure hunt on 24 and 25 October from 10:30, lasting around three hours, to free the gardens from evil spirits, with tickets from €6.90 to €9. And in Benalmádena Pueblo, the Pre-Columbian Museum celebrates the Day of the Dead with a traditional altar open until 8 November and a parade of Catrinas and Calaveras towards the end of that weekend (published dates vary between 23 and 24 October, so check before you go). These activities are free.
29–31 October: nights of mystery in Málaga city
Theatrical tours of the English Cemetery. Historia Viva Málaga runs night-time tours of around 90 minutes in which different characters tell the true stories of some of the people buried there. There are sessions on several dates in October, including the 29th, 30th and 31st, from €19. It is not a fancy-dress party but a cultural experience with an air of mystery, and the organisers recommend it for ages 12 and up.
Night-time theatrical tour at La Concepción. On Saturday 31, from 19:00, the Botanical Garden offers a route full of mystery and scares for €17. The first sessions are aimed mainly at families with children. Booking by phone is required (+34 951 92 61 80 or +34 639 91 40 55). It is a plan that sells out, so don’t leave it until the last minute.
Friday 30: party at La Fábrica (Soho). From 17:00, with live music, themed dishes and a special pumpkin beer. Entry is free.
Saturday 31, all day. The OXO Video Game Museum in Plaza del Siglo is preparing a day of Halloween decorations and horror video games, announced from 11:00 to 22:00. In the city centre and at Muelle Uno you can expect the usual atmosphere of costumes, sweets and photocalls, although this year’s programme has not yet been confirmed. And if you would rather have dinner with a lively atmosphere, the Hard Rock Cafe at Muelle Uno is announcing a costume night with live music from 21:00 to 23:00.
With children: weekend getaways
Families have their place too. In Colmenar, about 30 minutes from Málaga, Circo Escuela Fantasía holds its Halloween Kids Party from 31 October to 2 November, with trick-or-treating, potion workshops, treasure hunts and even a graveyard complete with its own gravedigger, from 11:00 to 13:30 (with the option to extend into the afternoon). The villages of Alfarnate and Alfarnatejo are also in the area, perfect for rounding off the day.
In Benalmádena, Ópera Benalmádena presents the musical Miércoles Addams: el secreto de la mansión (Wednesday Addams: The Secret of the Mansion) from 30 October to 1 November, with tickets from €12, an alternative way to celebrate Halloween without a haunted house.
Castles and villages for your own route
If what draws you in is timeless mystery, Málaga has settings that work without any special programme. Gibralfaro Castle, with the city lit up at your feet as the sun goes down; Sohail Castle in Fuengirola, which is even more striking at night thanks to its lighting; or the Colomares Monument in Benalmádena, ornate and photogenic like few others. With a car you can link them all in a single afternoon and end up having dinner by the sea in Pedregalejo or at the port of Málaga.
And if you have time to spare and fancy a longer drive, a weekend getaway to Soportújar, the witches’ village in the Alpujarra region of Granada, just over two hours from Málaga, is a perfect plan for those who are not content to stay in the city.
Tips for getting around at Halloween
On the night of the 31st, Málaga city centre gets packed. If you are going out for dinner or drinks in the centre, the easiest option is to leave your car in a car park on the outskirts or in a public car park at the port, rather than driving around looking for a space. For plans outside the city, such as Laberintus, Colmenar or Benalmádena, the car is without doubt the best option; Laberintus also offers free parking.
In the end, Halloween in Málaga is not just about pumpkins and costumes. It is a chance to discover the province from a different angle: historic, mysterious and festive. That freedom starts with a set of keys in your hand and a car waiting for you at the airport. Miami Car Hire makes it easy: you collect your vehicle in minutes and, from there, you choose your own route.
So, if you are coming this year, don’t think of Halloween as just another party: experience it as an adventure on wheels. Every bend can take you to a different setting, every village can hide a story and every night can end wherever you decide.
